Notice: Thursday 26 October

Evening Prayer will replace Choral Evensong at 5:15pm tonight.

The choir is unavailable due to distressing circumstances.

All are invited to share in prayers with us (but no media is permitted inside).

The hymns are “Be Still My Soul” and “The Lord’s My Shepherd”.

Psalm 77:1-4 says

I cried out to God for help;
    I cried out to God to hear me.
When I was in distress, I sought the Lord;
    at night I stretched out untiring hands,
    and I would not be comforted.
I remembered you, God, and I groaned;
    I meditated, and my spirit grew faint.
You kept my eyes from closing;
    I was too troubled to speak.

We pray…

Kyrie eleison                  Lord, have mercy
Christe eleison               Christ, have mercy
Kyrie eleison                  Lord, have mercy

O God, creator and preserver of all mankind: we commend to your fatherly goodness all who are in any way afflicted or distressed – especially those for whom our prayers have been asked this day – that it may please you to comfort and relieve them according to their needs, giving them patience in their sufferings. You know the anxieties and fears of your children. Give the assurance of your presence even in the dark valley. All this we ask for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord, the resurrection and life, to all who believe.  Amen.
