Community Chaplaincy
Community Chaplaincy
Community chaplaincy at St Andrew’s Cathedral is focussed on serving neighbours in need as an outflow of God’s great love for us. Our community chaplain and volunteers run several activities. These include Street T, Community Hub and Support Groups…
STREET T: Breakfast, Bible & Buddies
Mondays & Tuesdays from 8:30 -10:30am
This is a welcoming community especially for street people. Come for a cuppa or some porridge, toast and fruit, then stay for a chat. Our group Bible discussion starts at 9:30.
COMMUNITY HUB
Second Tuesday of the month, from 10am – midday.
This special event sees about a dozen different charities and government services join us. You can find help with accommodation, I.D., a health check, legal assistance, haircuts and more, all in the one place. A BarBQ lunch is also served following the Street T breakfast.
These events typically take place in Sydney Square, just outside the Cathedral. We gather in the Cathedral if it’s raining. We don’t meet on public holidays or over January.
SUPPORT GROUPS
Support groups are designed to bring healing and hope. Please go to the Divorce Care (divorcecare.org) and Grief Share (griefshare.org) websites for details on local courses, including ones we’re planning to host.
Our Community Chaplain, the Reverend Rob Elder, would love to hear from you if you have any questions or would like to be involved, either as a volunteer or participant. You can contact Rob via email.
