Church during the Sydney Marathon
Despite the Sydney Marathon, you can still make it to church this Sunday morning, 31 August!
Trains and Metro services will continue to run to and from the city, with additional early morning services.
Light Rail from the south terminates at Town Hall until 11am. The L3 line runs from Moore Park only (rather than from Juniors Kingsford) until 11am. The L2 runs normally from Randwick. The Dulwich Hill L1 line is unaffected, except there are some extra services.
Some Buses will be affected, depending where you come from, so plan your trip ahead of time.
For drivers...
Cross City Tunnel will be open – and free – from 5am to 4:30pm only on event day.
Cars can approach via Bathurst & Kent Streets and access the St Andrew’s House Car Park and Cathedral from the south end of CBD; afterwards you exit south via Druitt & Sussex Streets.
From the North Shore to access the city centre, you will need to travel via the Harbour Tunnel, take the Kings Cross exit at William St then join Cross City Tunnel (toll-free) westbound to exit at Harbour St, before turning left into Bathurst Street.
From the East, come also via the Cross City Tunnel (toll-free) westbound to exit at Harbour St, before turning left into Bathurst Street.
From Anzac Bridge, you will divert past the Sydney Fish Markets and around Wentworth Park, along William Henry St flowing into Pier St into Harbour St before a right turn into Bathurst Street.
From the South-East, you would come via Maroubra Rd, Bunnerong Rd and via Gardeners Rd, then Botany Rd and Regent St, then via Broadway to Pitt St, Liverpool St and Kent St.
In every case, it will be wise to allow some extra travel time.
