The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

This Sunday, 6th February, is the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty – that is, the 70th Anniversary of the Accession of Queen Elizabeth to the throne.

At the Cathedral, we will mark this occasion liturgically in the prayers and hymns at all our services, but particularly at 10:30am.

It is also our "Commencement of Ministry" Sunday. So the Dean's sermon will be on the topic of "Service", a theme dear to Her Majesty. For example, in her Christmas broadcast in 2012, the year of her Diamond Jubillee, the Queen said:

"This is the time of year when we remember that God sent his only Son 'to serve, not to be served'. He restored love and service to the centre of our lives in the person of Jesus Christ.

It is my prayer this Christmas Day that his example and teaching will continue to bring people together to give the best of themselves in the service of others."

All are welcome to join us:

* 8:30am Book of Common Prayer, Holy Communion

* 10:30am - with Cathedral Kids Sunday School

* 5:00pm Evening Church

COVID safety rules are in place, with mask-wearing indoors and QR code check in mandatory.
