Simply Christianity

Simply Christianity is a 5 week course designed to explain the Christian faith in a clear way. It “lets the Gospel tell the gospel”! as the course takes the attendees through the whole book of Luke’s Gospel. This means grown adults can say that they have read one of the original biographies of the most important man in human history, enabling them to make their own mind up about who he really is.

Our Dean, Sandy Grant, will be running Simply Christianity in two modes:

  • Onsite at Cathedral (Lower Chapter House): 5 Sundays at 12:00 noon, from 24th April; or

  • Via Zoom: 5 Tuesdays at 7:30pm, from 26th April

Here's what a couple of people said when Sandy ran the course last year in Wollongong:

“One of the best aspects of the course was reading Luke and having the gospel explained. The topics were covered well. I am still not really convinced that there is a God as I still have many other philosophical questions about God, heaven, the universe, etc. However, I would be happy to attend another explanatory course about the Bible in the future.” – Brian, geology lecturer

“I chose to attend Simply Christianity to take my first steps in learning about the Bible and Jesus. I enjoyed the freedom to speak my mind, the easy feel of the course and not being forced any personal questions or read the Bible aloud.” – Elspeth, administrator

Participants are not asked to read or pray aloud, but can ask as many questions as they like. Most attenders find it surprisingly relevant and stimulating. And in each case, live or via Zoom, we’ll be done in under 90 minutes! In the flesh, Sandy might even serve his famous Toblerone Cheesecake one week!

Every member of the Cathedral should feel free to do the course themselves, so they can see how good it is and be ready to invite a friend when the opportunity arises.

The really good news is that one of our Assistant Minister, Serena Cheung, is running a similar course, Christianity Explored in Mandarin, also starting Sunday 24th April.
